A White Grape Variety with Remarkable Versatility
Chardonnay is a chameleon of a white grape that readily takes on the characteristics of where it's grown and how it's vinified. It originated in the Burgundy region of France. Because of its versatility, now you can find Chardonnay in almost anywhere wine is produced. Depending on the climate, the Chardonnay wine can be with high acidity and light body if it is grown under cool climate. Or to another extreme, fuller body with medium acidity if it is grown in warm climate.
Characteristics: Range from medium to high acidity, light to medium body with green-fruit flavours (apple, pear) and citrus-fruit flavours (lime, lemon), or medium to full body with stone-fruit flavours (peach, apricot) and tropical-fruit flavours (melon, pineapple)
