The most famous red wine variety on Earth
Cabernet Sauvignon is a black grape variety that needs a warm to moderate climate to produce good quality grapes. This thick-skinned variety is often blended with other varieties for softening its very high levels of tannins and acidity, though it can also be found as a single-varietal wine. It is loved for its high concentration and age worthiness.
Characteristics: Typically high to medium tannins, high acidity, rich black-fruit flavours (blackcurrant, black cherry), herbaceous (green bell pepper)
