"Red Fruit, Earthy, Classic”
Celebrating Caparzo's 50th anniversary, this is a solid and classic Brunello, one of the best vintages. The wine opens to aroma of red fruits (red cherry and raspberry), black cherry, mingle together with leather, oak, forest floor and hint of liquorice. The palate is dry, generous flavour intensity, silky tannin with lively acidity, medium bodied, and a pleasant medium+ finish.

Because of the superb quality of the skins, the wine is kept in contact with them for a further 10-15 days. Malolactic fermentation: spontaneous, at a controlled temperature of 20-24 °C, immediately after racking; (b) Ageing: At least 2 years in wood and at least 4 months in bottle
From the winery:
Colour: Ruby, tending towards garnet with age
Bouquet: Penetrating, ample, and very complex, with echoes of wild berry fruit
Palate: Dry, warm, firm, harmonious, delicate and austere, and persistent

“Caparzo is one of two properties in Montalcino owned by the beautiful and charming Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini. The other property is Altesino. This wine, the Caparzo 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is a very classic interpretation that delivers the goods without any distracting bells or whistles. The wine opens to red and purple fruit aromas with background tones of dried herb, potting soil, cedar wood and light spice. Fruit comes from a site with heavier clay soils, and you get hints of that extra density and richness here. This vintage offers all you need in a model Brunello from a very beautiful and generous vintage. I always admire the wines of Caparzo for their accessible and immediate drinking style. Some 160,000 bottles were corked in August 2019, and the wine hit the market in January 2020.” – Monica Larner

“Aromas of mature woodland berry, underbrush, leather and camphor mingle together with a whiff of blue flower. The bright, polished palate offers juicy Marasca cherry, cranberry, cocoa and clove alongside taut fine-grained tannins that leave a firm, somewhat chalky finish. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced.” - KERIN O’KEEFE
“The origin of the name Caparzo seems to derive from Ca' Pazzo, as seen in several ancient maps. The vineyards, cellars and all wine-making equipment were developed towards the end of the sixties, with a progressive adaptation and constant upgrading of both the land and the cellars. Still experimenting with innovative farming systems and, in particular, several clones on the estates, which cover an area of approximately 200 hectares, 90 of which are cultivated with vines, 4 of olive trees, 87 of woodland and 19 currently arable land.” – Importer’s notes
