Shiraz / Syrah
The Australia’s Greatest Red Wine
Shiraz / Syrah is a black grape variety that needs a warm to moderate climate to ripen and produce good quality grapes. This thick-skinned variety is well known for producing wines with black-fruit flavours and black pepper aromas. A fresh-fruit and medium-bodied style is often named as Syrah, which is well-known from the Northern Rhône in France; while a riper and full-bodied style produced in warm climate region is often known as Shiraz. This is the Australia's greatest red wine, paired extremely well with steaks.
Characteristics: Typically high to medium tannins and acidity, rich black-fruit flavours (black cherry, blackberry), herbal notes and flavours of black pepper and liquorice
