Pouilly-Fumé, Loire Valley, France

“Crisp, Smoke, Classic”

Fresh aroma of grapefruit, lime zest, blossom, capsicum, flint and smoke.  From the blending of chalk and flint subsoil, and with the bottle aging, the wine develops its famous aroma of smoke ('fume").  Crisp acidity on the palate with nice depth, elegant minerality, what a refreshing and classic Pouilly-Fumé.  Superb choice for summertime!

From the wine maker:

"With a golden hue with hints of green, this great wine of the Loire has aromas of citrus and flintstone. On the palate, a clean attack is followed by a well-balanced roundness. With bottle ageing, Pouilly develops its famous aromas of smoke ("fumé")."

Domaine Laporte sits on the edge of a valley known as La Cassure de Sancerre.  This unique geological formation is divided into two distinct soil types: limestone hills on one side of the valley, flint hills on the opposite side.  Grapes grown on each of these different soils are vinified according to the kind of soil.  This careful respect for soil typicity gives each wine an individual expression and personality.
