“Red fruits, Fragrant, Complex”
Geelong is famous for high-quality cool-climate Pinot Noir, and Gary Farr is one of Australia’s Pinot pioneers and knows more about Pinot than anyone. Their winemaking style is very Burgundian (natural yeast, whole bunch fermentation and long maceration) to produce wines that reflect their terroir with pure primary fruit characters and savoury depth, structure and longevity. This Farrside Pinot displays attractive aromas of strawberry, raspberry, tomato leaves, spice and forest floor. The palate is fresh yet rich and complex, with nice acidity and a long-textured finish.

From the Winery:
"Each vintage of Farrside pinot noir exhibits more masculinity, structure and savoury components, while deep meaty, spicy and mineral flavours also continue to evolve. A balanced array of red and black fruits, Farrside pinot noir is fresh and edgy with bucketloads of character. This is a firm yet delicate wine with a long-textured finish."

"It takes time in the glass for assertive cedar wood oak to settle into the fruit but at all steps along the way this wine oozes both quality and class. You’re in the most skilled of hands here. Woodsmoke, assorted cherries, twiggy spice notes, flavour-infused acidity and fine-grained tannin. It’s a truly beautiful wine." – Campbell Mattinson
94 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The medium-ruby 2018 Farrside Pinot Noir is just another exhibit in the case that color intensity and flavor intensity—particularly in Pinot Noir—have little to do with one another. The wine features complex aromas of black tea, roses, grilled plums and fresh raspberries, and those notes are repeated on the medium-bodied palate. There's a bit more expansiveness to this wine compared to the Sangreal, and the tannins are even silkier here, but quality-wise the two wines are basically equivalent." - Joe Czerwinski
"Gary and Nick Farr are the father and son duo behind By Farr in Geelong. As Winemakers and vignerons, the Farr’s established their latest venture in 1999, having over thirty years and sixty-two vintages between them. Prior to By Farr, Gary Farr was winemaker at Bannockburn, helping to put this iconic Australian winery on the international landscape. Gary and Nick Farr inject passion, persistence and patience into each of their wines and it shows with subtle and striking fruit characters that improve with time in the bottle." - Importer's note
