“Buttery, Oaky, Complex”
Prominent nose of pear, melon, elderflower, vanilla, oak with hint of brioche and almond. On palate, opulent buttery texture, medium+ to full bodied, notable acidity, well-balanced between the fruity and oaky flavours, and with a long finish. You can feel the class of this Rioja white!

“Placet reclaims the taste and tradition of the Rioja white: its dynamism, its volatile maturity and its class, perhaps its mystery too, and certainly its hint of fruits and white flowers.” - Importer's note

"The one white produced here, the 2018 Plácet Valtomelloso comes from a cool and wet vintage that has produced fresh wines with an Atlantic profile even in this Mediterranean part of Rioja. It's Viura from 33-year-old vines fermented in oval oak casks where the wine matured for some seven months. I tasted the wine quite early, and it felt quite primary. It's very intense and has notable acidity, with a remarkable pH of 3.29 after malolactic. 2018 was a year of mildew, but they controlled it even though they are organic in the vineyard. It's really fresh, elegant and balanced, and it looks like one of the finest if not the finest vintage of Plácet. Drink date: 2020-2030." - Luis Gutiérrez
"Alvaro Palacios brings together three wineries situated in three historic regions: Rioja, Priorat and Bierzo Their wine-growing personalities encapsulate individual geographies and climates, reflect the earthly culture of the vine and reveal mystic echoes of past. All wines are produced organically. Palacios is deeply committed to organic viticulture and natural winemaking practices, such as use of organic fertilizers in the stone-covered, clay soils." - Importer's note
