Try swapping your Pinot Noir and Shiraz for Grenache

Grenache (aka Garnacha in Spain) is a black grape variety that needs a warm climate to ripe successfully.  This thin-skinned variety is originated in Spain and Southern France.  Outstanding Grenache can also be found in South Australia's warm Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale regions.  These Australian wines can be similar in style and quality to the wines of Châteaunuef-du-Pape AOC. 

Varietal characteristics:  Typically medium tannins, rich red-fruit flavours (strawberry, red plum, red cherry) and sometimes spice (white pepper and liquorice).
