The Iconic Grape of Tuscany

Sangiovese is one of the most important black grape varieties of central Italy, that requires warm climate from there in order to produce highly concentrated red wines.  It is the dominant variety of Chianti in central Tuscany and is often blended with small amount of other black grapes in that region.

Characteristics:  Typically high tannins, high acidity, red-fruit flavours (red cherry, red plum) with dried herbs
